Hi, I’m Cat.

I’m a mom, a wife, a nurse, and community theatre fangirl/performer who thought she’d already squeezed absolutely everything she could into every last bit of free time that each successive 24/7 week could offer.

Enter cookies.

I’ve been baking sugar cookies with my grandma since I was a tiny person, using the same recipe her grandma made with her decades ago on a farm in Kansas. When I became a less tiny person and left the nest, I took her recipe with me, carefully handwritten on a 3x5 recipe card. The recipe card is now dog-eared and stained, its contents long since committed to memory, after countless holiday baking adventures with my own kids.

Then about a year ago, I stumbled onto decorating with royal icing, and found myself lost in the zen space created by immersing oneself in the meditative piping of delicate lines of icing across a cookie. It was all over.

Long story short, I decided to take this cookie habit (semi)pro and launch Cat’s Coastside Cookies, a licensed home-based bakery with only one product, but with nearly endless creative potential: custom decorated sugar cookies.

The cookie: melt-in-your-mouth buttery and soft, with hints of vanilla and almond

The icing: royal icing flavored with a touch of almond, carefully piped and shaped to help you celebrate whatever needs celebrating: cast gifts, holidays, birthdays, milestone showers, you name it

The verdict on where cookies fit into the carefully constructed family-work-theatre equation: TBD (also though sleep is overrated, so 🤷‍♀️)
